Oslo Runway 24

Murlong Cres made their runway show debut and dedicated the collection to a ‘celebration of silk’. The brand wanted to show the ‘fluidity, sheen and unmatched luxury’ of the natural protein fibre. Using the inspiration of ‘minimalist Scandinavian living’, Murlong Cres designed 15 looks for the runway. As described by Vogue Scandinavia, the series of looks captured ‘nostalgic sentiment and vintage charm with pleated busts, bows and laced-up bustiers’. IMMELSK Production are the proud manufacturers of the collection. It was a pleasure to work alongside Kaja and her team.

Kaja’s designs have been worn by Elsa Hosk, Sydney Sweeney, Nara Smith and Matilda Djerf. The ‘romantic cottage-core elements’, as expressed by Vogue Scandinavia, have quickly become somewhat iconic. As the brand’s manufacturing partner, we worked closely with Kaja to develop a series of all-white garments using only silk and cotton compositions. To honour the brand’s original designs such as the first Elsa bustier, it was important for cream and ivory accents to be included.

Our favourite garments include the wedding gown and Idunn dress. The wedding gown uses 12m of pure silk - split between 100% satin and 100% chiffon. The bodice features a curved bandeau neckline and uses boning for structure. The small gathers where the dropped waist connects to the skirt section, allows for a full and voluminous effect. The garment is dual-lined, double layered and has a train of silk. The brand’s signature ribbon shoulder ties are handmade, also from 100% silk. The Idunn dress combines silk and cotton - where the skirt uses over 5m of 100% chiffon. The sleeveless top runs into a horizontal ruched waist panel, which is finished with a side bow - emphasising the silhouette. The top half of this design is seamless and has a high, rounded neckline for comfort. These styles are reminiscent of Murlong Cres traditions, but suggest a new bridal category for the brand.
